more kitchen cabinets

7-28-09 Driveway

Happy Birthday Mom & Eric!!

They dropped off the trim

And the doors... but I'm a little confused... there aren't suposed to be any bifold doors in the house that I know of... yet another question for Dave.

I've never been so excited to see so many boxes! They are the cabinets. I would assume they will be installed today.

The driveway is poured!

The sidewalks were done as well.

The step from the drive to the porch

The bumpout on the drive looked great. It lined up great with the side of the house and end of the garage.

We really liked the curve on the drive by the garage.

7-16-09 Drywall

Elle was very excited about her room!

Vaulted ceiling in master... looked great!
They poured the new patio. Looked MUCH better than the one they just threw on the ground!
Garage
Storage area under the stairs.
Arches from dining to kitchen
Looking at arches in the dining room from the playroom. The playroom will have french doors
The drywall was by far the most exciting thing to see so far. We could see what the rooms really felt like.

7-13-09 Arches Framed

The trim has been painted and the roof is shingled.

The installation was put in, and the drywall was dropped off.
The arches have been framed.
Good news! Since our closet in the master was messed up... they compensated us by getting us these corbels (The arches shown below attached to the pillars) and they will be installing 5 additional shelves in the master closet. Dave was meeting with a closet planner today to figure out how to best utilize the closet space.

The drywall hang inspection will be on Thursday. And it should be finished by July 24th.

7-9-09 Pre-drywall inspection

All security has been installed on the windows downstairs.

Master (Eric's) closet. They moved the studs over for the door on the right. And, moved the studs in front of the vents back (to the right) as much as possible.
They will be installing 5 shelves on the right side of the closet.
The patio! :{
Hard to tell... but the roof is shingled and completed.

We met with Dave and City Securities. Ruthie, our realtor, had City Securities come and do an additional inspection just to make sure everything was covered. Very comforting. Dave, our construction manager walked through with us and addressed all of the issues.

A couple of surprises and disappointments... but overall we are very happy and excited. The closet really cannot be fixed. Since the ducts are ran through the peak of the garage roof (rather than up through a basement) they are not able to put them in the place they are designed to be on the plans. They moved the studs for the door over, and moved the studs for in front of the ducts back a couple inches to maximize the space. They will be installing 5 shelves (for free) for us on the right side of the closet to somewhat compensate for the lack of space.

Also, we thought they poured us a new patio in the back and broke up and removed the old one. WELL... not so much... all they did was detach it from the foundation and move it to the other side!! YIKES!! They have a foundation inspector coming in to look at it and tell us if he thinks it's ok. I don't. I think they need to reframe, re-foot, and repour it when the pour the driveway. We'll see. I'm sure more updates to come.

7-7-09 Doors, Security & On Cue

On Cue System in the closet in the foyer

Door from garage to kitchen
Back door w/ patio in correct place. (Elle's looking at the nails Daddy told her not to touch!)
Previous spot where the patio was
Front Door
Karen, Toni (35 weeks pregnant) & Elle

Grandma Karen & Elle
Grandpa Brad & Elle
The doors were installed, as well as the On Cue system. The On Cue is the "brains" of the house. Any tech stuff (Eric stuff) that will go into the house will go through this system, including the security system. (So, don't try to break in... we set traps!)

They moved the cement patio as well.

Mom and Dad came to see the progress. Dad approved!

7-2-09 Electrical

This is the water closet in the garage w/ the furnace installed. There's also plumbing and electrical.

The mater shower is installed!
Elle was very happy to see our new big tub!
The electrical box in the garage. (In the 3rd bay)
Air duct & register

This was the biggest problem we've seen in the house so far. This is Eric's closet in the master. The airduct area was in the back of the closet in the floor plan. Now it is on the side of the closet. So, he will have about 14" to walk into the closet, then have to turn and walk back through it. (see floor plan illustration below) Also, since that duct work is on the side... it makes the closet MORE than thin. Eric would barely fit in between 2 racks of clothes. It is not going to work. So, Eric has emailed the construction manager that it has to be changed; but as of now, no response. We'll see.
I bet they love having graphic designers as clients!!

7-1-09 Windows

They will have all the windows installed today. (They had a few left while I was there.) We took Elle out there yesterday and she was very excited about her bedroom, bathroom and playroom! We noticed that the long, main wall in the dining room was not marked for an arch. All of the other walls were marked properly. So, we emailed Dave and he said it was not in the plans. But, luckily... Matt, the sales consultant, said it was included! Whew!! Those arches are one of the most important features in that house for us!!
